The Ridings’ Federation of Academies

One of Empower Marketing’s Founders, Rob Phillips, worked as Head of Marketing and Communications at The Riding’s Federation of Academies for four years. This senior management role within the education sector required the development and implementation of external and internal marketing communication strategies for each of the Federation’s seven subsidiary brands.

The role also involved hands-on day-to-day campaign activity including copywriting, website management, SEO, social media, graphic design, classified/online/radio advertising, press relations, briefing suppliers, staff support, work experience opportunities to students, mobile apps, email communications, newsletters, brand development, implementation of leisure activities, publications and reporting back to the CEP and Academy Trust. In fact, pretty much anything and everything you can think of within Marketing and PR, and then some!

Key achievements during this time included…

  • increasing student admissions by 18% across both Academies and Sixth Form
  • generating £2million of PR value in one year,
  • 100% occupancy at new Nursery within 3 months of launch
  • significantly reducing spend across various budgets
